1. Believing that if you build it, they will come. There are so many sites on the internet now, launching yours can be like dropping a stone into a bottomless well. If you don't have compelling products and messages, then your website will not be noticed.
2. Doing it because you can. There's so much new technology available (like flash), people feel they have to have it on their site just because someone else is using it. Bells and whistles are great, but they can be distracting. Use only those things that make sense for your product or business.
3. Failing to hire professionals. Choosing your brother-in-law as your designer can result in an under-designed website that presents an incoherent image. A poorly made website with poorly composed text reflects a poorly organized company.
